Similar to jade plants, the money tree plant is actually a species of tree from the genus Pachira belonging to the family Malvaceae and this tree is usually made by braiding many young and tender money plants. The central trunk consists of a range of braided stems and the large shiny green leaves are all shaped like a lance tip.

Money trees can grow between 3 and 6 ft. (0.9 – 1.8 m) tall and under the perfect humid conditions, some can even flower and produce edible nuts. But the most delightful thing about this tree is that it can grow easily, with moderate sunlight and water and require only low plant maintenance.

According to Feng Shui followers, “Money trees should be placed in homes and businesses to attract good fortune. But, one thing to keep in mind is that it should never be placed in your bathroom as it can drain or flush the positive energy away.”

In traditional Feng Shui practices, lucky bamboo or Dracaena has been used for more than 50 centuries. Some other names for this plant include Chinese water bamboo and the Goddess of Mercy. Even though this plant looks a bit like bamboo (and named as such also), it is not in the same family as the authentic bamboo Poaceae.
